IPv6 is the newer version of the internet’s addressing system. Many mobile and broadband networks already use it, and some services work better — or only — over it.
Step 1: Check what you have today
Open ip6.bd from your office network. It shows whether you have IPv6, whether you are behind shared addressing (CGNAT) and which DNS resolver you use.
Step 2: List what needs to change
- Your internet connection and router
- Firewall rules — written again for IPv6
- Public services such as your website and email
- Internal systems that store or check IP addresses
Step 3: Roll out in layers
Run IPv4 and IPv6 side by side. Start with public services, then the office network, and check monitoring and logs at each step.
